Silence awaits on the shores of Lake Pielinen

About Tarina-Aho

Tarina-Aho is a world of its own in the embrace of Lake Pielinen, on an old farm in Kelvänsaari bordered by birch forests, where the lake wraps you in its silence. Hop on a boat at the Koli harbor and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind on the mainland. Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by carefully prepared food, a relaxed atmosphere, and an authentic wood-fired sauna on the shores of Lake Pielinen, where you’ll experience the Finnish sauna tradition at its best.

Koli, northern lakeland

Koli sits in North Karelia, eastern Finland, where the fells drop into Lake Pielinen in one of Finland's most iconic views. Ancient bedrock, old-growth forests and a pristine lake create the kind of landscape that stops you mid-step. Over 80 km of marked trails wind through Koli National Park, open year-round for hiking, snowshoeing, and everything in between.

We're on Kelvänsaari Island, sitting right in the middle of it all. No noise, no light pollution. Just you, the lake, the forest, and the kind of dark sky you don't find anymore. The island stretches over six kilometres and is easy to explore on foot or by bike along a well-kept gravel road.
